MICHELE ZAZA
Was born in 1948. After enrolling in the sculpture course held by Marino Marini at Brera Academy Milan, he got his diploma in 1971. The following year he exhibited his Cristologia (“Christology”) at Diagramma/Inga-Pin Gallery Milano: his research is developed in various cycles, such as Spazio del verbo essere (“The Space of the Verb To Be”), Mimesi (“Mimesis”), Anamnesi (“Anamnesis”). He took part in Documenta exhibition (Kassel, 1977 and 1982) and in Paris (1975) and Sao Paulo (1977) Biennials. In 1978 he created Racconto celeste (“Celestial Story”), in 1980 he participated in Venice Biennale with a solo show and the following year he exhibited at Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, while he was beginning to introduce some sculpture elements in his works. In the 90’s he began transfiguring faces and voyage becomes a “way back to oneself” characterized by the harmonic coexistence of the man and the cosmos full of symbols and presences. In the years 2000 he exhibited at the Contemporary Art Laboratory Museum Rome and at Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain Geneva. His works are part of lots of public collections [Centre Pompidou, Musée d’Art moderne (Paris); Staatsgalerie (Stuttgart); Museum of Contemporary Art (Teheran); Kunsthaus (Zurich). Some of his recent one-man exhibitions were: Apparizione magica (“Magic Apparition”), Sabrina Raffaghello Contemporary Art (Alessandria, 2010); Apparizione cosmica (“Cosmic apparition”), Bertalazone Palace at San Fermo (Turin, 2011); Apparizione magica (“Magic Apparition”), Premio Maretti - Valerio Riva Memorial, Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci (Prato, 2011).
